Spring/Summer Retiring Items

I guess its that time of year; the time of year when we gain fabulous new product and get a new catalog, but its also the time of year we say goodbye to other fabulous products. All of the current B&T are going away and being replaced by some new gorgeous paper packs, but I'm terribly sad to see the others go away. I really love Timberline, Lollydoodle and Balloon Ride! I hate to see them go! Damask Divas Blog Hop : Skylark

I can hardly believe that its time for another Damask Divas Blog Hop, where has the time gone? If youre anything like me, summer has brought on a whole new set of crazy! This month we are showcasing the absolutely gorgeous Skylark pack.  I'm sad to see this super cute paper go at the end of July with its beautiful blues, yellows and greens. As much as I love this pack, I wasn't sure what project I should do with it initially. I was waiting for that perfect project. The opportunity arose when I decided a mere week before Close To My Heart Convention that I was going to make some cards to swap.

I was extremely nervous. I had no idea if I needed to do anything in particular, use specific papers, etc. I decided to keep it simple and cute. I also only made 25, but believe me that still took plenty of time. LOL. I think I'll need to start making cards earlier then I did this year, but I had to learn something this first time and that's ok.

I cut the card base in A2 size, which is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 in White Daisy Cardstock.  Followed by a strip from the Skylark pack about 5 1/4 x 3. As well as a 3 x 2 piece of Indian Corn Blue, which I really love that color by the way! Its gorgeous and looked amazing with the paper from Skylark.

I stamped the small Unicorn stamp from the Unicorn Dreams set (which is a Hostess Set, so if you love it as much as I do, don't miss out on snagging it this next month. Throw Party in your home or online & earn those hostess rewards) in Black ink and I fusy cut it, then added a bit of bling, Clear Sparkles. I also used the stars from the set inked in Indian Corn Blue and stamped in the bottom corner to fill up some of the white space. Then I stamped the sweet message inside with more....Indian Corn Blue. (Are you seeing just how much I love it, lol!) I used a CTMH corner rounder, another must for card making  and just did the bottom corners. Placed the unicorn with a little 3D Tape and there you have a super cute, but very easy card for any occasion.

The great thing about cardmaking is that you can use the same basic design with different papers, change it up a little bit or even add different embellishments, giving it a totally different look. I wasn't a card maker before I joined Close To My Heart, but now I love it. I whip out tons of cards, because they can be so easy and I'm always learning new things! Don't be afraid to branch out and try something new!

Damask Divas Blog Hop: Timberline

It's another month and another Damask Divas Blog Hop! I've been feeling a bit out of the loop these days, so I'm so excited to be back joining another Hop! Let me officially welcome you! This month we are showcasing Timberline paper pack and I don't know about you, but I love this set, because it is so masculine and great for all those projects that need that bit of outdoors to it. I don't know about all of you but I have found it really hard to locate paper that is truly fitting for cards for men or scrapbook pages. Maybe its just where I live, but anyway, when I saw that we had a set that was outdoorsy, I couldn't help but think that this was perfect! It was fitting for those hard to create projects for the men in our lives!

That being said I was delighted to get to showcase this paper right before Father's Day. I made a set of four cards that are nearly identical in set up and almost in the papers I used, but I wanted to show that with the particular paper you can get a variety of looks just based on the cuts of paper you use. I used only one sheet of paper, it had the wood board look on the one side and the variety of sayings and outdoor images on the back. I also used a Daisy White CS base and stamped the image in Cocoa ink on a piece of Cashmere CS, which I then used my sponge with more Cocoa ink to distress the edges of that small piece.

 I cut a 3"x5 1/2" strip of the wood grained side, then a 2"x4" strip of the otherside. I dovetailed it and layered it on top. I added my Saying and gave it a bit of pop by using 3D tape. So simple and yet so cute. I love trying to make more complex cards, but I still love being to whip out multiple cards that I know will look great. This is just one sheet in the set and you could use this same layout with any of the other sheets or even any other sheet, but this set is absolutely fantastic!

 

I also managed to use the thin strip at the top of the page to decorate the inside of two of the cards. I loved how simply I was able to tie the inside with the outside! If you want to add this paper pack to your collection, go to my website and order yours today!

Artbooking Made Easy: Crush on Artbooking

Good Morning! I am on a roll this week! I've had tons of down time, so no real excuse to not post every day! This video had such great ideas to combine Artbooking & Crush books! Who would have thought how great the two would work together! So many ideas and so little time! What a great gift idea! My sister put together her first year together with her boyfriend for Christmas out of one of our crush books, I bet she would have loved using the cute cutouts from Artbooking! Weaving

Good Evening Everyone! Here is another super cute and super easy card to do for any occasion. I started with a simple 5 1/2" x 4 1/4 card base made with Daisy White Cardstock and then I cut strips about 1" in width and about 3" long from Ivy Lane paper pack as well as Gypsy Cardstock. This was a great opportunity to use up scraps of paper I had laying around (of which I have tons!) and then I wove them together making sure to try & give them varying start & end points. I think it turned out super cute and could easily be done with any complimenting patterns & colors. Super easy! I also used the Big Hug stamp set to add the sentiment 'Just Because' on the outside and in the inside I used 'Always in our hearts.' I added 'You Are' with my journaling pen just before the inside sentiment. I planned this to be for Mother's Day. I love how it turned out and I think that you all should give it a try! DIY: Easy 3-D Effects

Good Morning Ladies! I hope you find this video helpful for adding some 3-D pop on your projects. I loved the cute little Film Strip book! I definitely need to try a few of these.
